Eric Carter
PRODUCER
Eric is a retired physician and scientist now able to reflect more deeply on aspects of history that has shaped the evolution of his family. Born in the aftermath of the Second World War, a momentous time for his family in Europe, Eric has come to appreciate the importance of George Santayana's quote: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".
Together with his eldest son, Daniel, an accomplished cinematographer and filmmaker, they set out to explore a 12 month period in 1944 and 1945 which would have a profound impact on their family. Documenting this period and the events that led to it is essential to ensure that the past is not forgotten and that the lessons learned can be used to inspire not only Eric's family but also to enlighten many others.
Eric and Frances, his lifelong partner, live in New York with their dog Maya, close to their children and grandchildren.
